Time Travelling Greetings from the past!

It took the time machine 10 hours to take me back to the 1950's but here I am, It took the shape of a bus from Ipswitch to a town called Augathella, and then a further hour to reach the home of Don 'n' Jan (Not to be confused with Don Juan!).

Don and Jan live on a 50,000 Acre cattle ranch between Tambo and Charleville, otherwise known as the middle of nowhere, since my arrival I have been verry busy indeed, rising at 7am, to find that I am the last up! - Cooking toast on the wood stove, using a peice of fencing wire, making tea in a billy and donong my hat and fly net before heading off. Don says that he has never seen insects quite as prolific in 38yrs of working this land and I am really glad to be seeing them at their best. The toilet contains live frogs more often than not, there is no mains electricity, water, gas or anything to tell you the truth. Jan keeps flour in a 20 gallon drum, and has enough tined food to last about 6 months, as they frequently need to.

Theres no flies on me! - Well er actually there are a few!

Don needs to be pretty much the all rounder and he has taught me valuble lessons in Riding, Welding, Plumbing, Mechanics, Fencing, Farming, livestock, digging holes, felling trees and the sort general maintenance needed on a farm this big. I have also made a total of 4 bird houses in the two weeks I have been here.

If I were a carpenter and you were a lady!

Those people amongst you who eat meat and wear leather shoes, take note - I think it should be compulsory for meat eaters to try firebranding, De stoning, De horning and inoculating a 2 yr old bull that would rather be elsewhere. I have seen more poo and blood this week than Florence Nightingale could shine her lamp at, and yet I am having a ball, I am the fitest i have been since the Inca Trail and am eating healthier than I have in 5 yrs (allthough admitedly a lot of red meat).

The other day I spent an agreeable morning with a charming 22yr old called Lucy, we drove a small herd of cattle about 5 miles together, her carrying me most of the way, and stopping only to chomp on the grass and piss!

Enjoy the future while you can, It might take me a while to get back!
